The AHRF will sell 4 tons of rare gemstone – the Charoite at an auction

On 13th March the Auction House of the Russian Federation (AHRF) scheduled the biddings as a part of a bankruptcy procedure of the KOKS-RiskManagement Ltd.
For sale offered a consignment of the Charoite gemstone with a total weight of 3 700 kg.
The Charoite is the lilac mineral. A single in the world deposit of the Charoite is located at the junction of Yakutia and Irkutsk Region, in an area of the Baikal-Amur Mainline, in a valley of the Chara River.
Due to natural ornamental qualities of the mineral, as well as its strength and ease of processing, the Charoite is widely used in manufacturing of jewelry, as well as of decorative objects (jewelry boxes, vases, statuettes, mosaic panels, etc.).
The starting price – 7.6 million rubles.
The biddings will be held at the ETP AHRF Electronic Trading Platform.

The Lot consists of three sorts of the Charoite: the highest sort (extra) – 360 kg, the first sort – 1 960 kg and the second sort – 1 350 kg.

“A limit of the Charoite extraction is introduced in Yakutia in order to protect the single deposit from a quick depletion. Not more than 100 tons of this rare mineral are mined per year. Undoubtedly, this measure affects the cost of the mineral and objects made of it. High demand and, at the same time, decreasing stocks of the Charoite deposit are increasing its cost in the market from year to year”, – comments Olga Zheludkova, Head of Department for Work with Troubled and Non-Core Assets of Banks.

In the Internet it is possible to find a lot of information on magic qualities of the Charoite. It is thought that objects made of this mineral reduce symptoms of stress and nervousness, help in mutual understanding with people around, as well as develop intuition.
